Application
schedule

A noninvasive
method without the
need for same-time-
every-day dosing

Once-weekly application with Twirla® avoids the daily same-time-every-day dosing of oral contraceptives and the in-office administration procedures of invasive long-acting methods.

To prevent pregnancy, Twirla needs to remain adhered to the skin for 7 days. Advise women to avoid frequent or prolonged water exposure (30 minutes or more) and to avoid use of body lotions or oils at the application site. Advise women to check Twirla's adhesion daily and after frequent or prolonged water exposure.

PILL REGIMEN
TWIRLA*
*Patients wear 1 patch every week for 3 weeks. They do not wear a patch during week 4.

The active ingredients in Twirla are delivered through the skin, avoiding the first-pass metabolism of oral contraceptives.1

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

WARNING: CIGARETTE SMOKING AND SERIOUS CARDIOVASCULAR EVENTS and CONTRAINDICATED IN WOMEN WITH A BMI ≥30 kg/m2

Cigarette Smoking and Serious Cardiovascular Events

Cigarette smoking increases the risk of serious cardiovascular events from combined hormonal contraceptive (CHC) use. This risk increases with age, particularly in women over 35 years of age, and with the number of cigarettes smoked. For this reason, CHCs, including TWIRLA, are contraindicated in women who are over 35 years of age and smoke.

Contraindicated in Women with a BMI ≥30 kg/m2

TWIRLA is contraindicated in women with a BMI ≥30 kg/m2. Compared to women with a lower BMI, women with a BMI ≥30 kg/m2 had reduced effectiveness and may have a higher risk for venous thromboembolic events (VTEs).
